Make-up Tips and Tricks

Here are a few things I have learned along the way - (I will continue to update this page as I remember more tips & tricks)

1.  When applying make-up - tuck your mascara tube under your knee while applying your other make-up to bring it to body temperature.  It loosens up your mascara and gives you a more lush and fluid application.  Apply your mascara after your brows (which is after face and eye powders and liners) - this will give all your make-up a few minutes to set.

2.  Refrain from blowing on your make-up brushes and applicators - you spread germs and contaminate your applicators and in-turn your make-up by this practice.  Tap off excess powder if needed or swirl applicator (for brushes) on your hand before application.

3.  Clean your make-up applicators regularly

4.  When cleaning your face, do not use your hair towel or bath towel to dry or clean your face.  I keep three (3) separate towels in the powder room and keep a towel dedicated to my face only as I am prone to break-outs. You will be amazed at how a simple thing like this will help keep your skin clear.

5.  Curl your lashes BEFORE you apply mascara - when curling your lashes after applying mascara there is more of a tendency to pull out lashes once the product coats and dries on your lashes.

6.  Dress your eyebrows AFTER you apply face powder, blush, and eye shadow.  The powders have a tendency to collect in your brows and will dull any brow-work you do.  Brush your eyebrows first, then dress your brows, and brush once again upon completion.

7.  Sleep on a silk pillowcase - the smoothness of the silk fibers will not scratch your skin.  An added benefit is sleeping on silk keeps your hair from knotting and from drying-out and keep is from going dull so quickly.  (Plus - the coolness and softness of the silk is super dreamy to sleep on)
